The first step in the onboarding process is to verify your business. Walmart will verify your information with federal, state and international organizations to make sure that you're eligible to sell on Walmart Marketplace. This guide shows you how to complete the Business verification form in Seller Center.
The Business verification form and your required location-specific documentation are based on the country of incorporation for your business. For example, a business that is incorporated in Hong Kong will have different verification requirements than a business that is incorporated in Canada.
Business verification
Step 1 – Get started
First, navigate to the Seller Center home page and select the Begin button. Complete all required fields, including your country or region of incorporation, state business registration number or business license number, business phone number and entity type. Learn more about each field:
Field | Definition |
|---|---|
Country/Region of incorporation | The country or region where you incorporated your business. For example, an individual might incorporate their business in the United States, but sell in the United States and Mexico. |
State business registration number (U.S.) or Business license number (China) | This number is issued to you by the state or country where you registered or incorporated your business. You can usually find the number on your business registration document or certificate of incorporation. |
Entity type | This is the legal definition of your business, such as a corporation, a partnership or an LLC. Learn more about the business entity types that Walmart accepts. |
Business phone number | The full phone number for your business. |
Step 2 – Primary contact information
Next, you’ll provide your Primary contact information. Select the Business role dropdown menu and choose the role that best describes your position in your company. For example, if you own your business, choose Business owner/Authorized signatory.
Step 3 – Identity document information
Next, you'll provide your Identity document information. You must enter your information exactly as it appears on your personal identity document, especially your residential address. Include any special characters and any local-language text. If this information is not entered accurately, your Marketplace application may be delayed.
For certain countries of incorporation, we may ask you to provide identity information for the legal representative or director of your company and their contact information.
Step 4 – Upload required documents
You can reduce your application's approval time and improve your chances of being verified by providing supporting documents, such as a state-issued driver's license, business license or business registration certificate. Each file must be less than 5MB in size.
In some cases, we may ask you to provide proof of your address. Learn more about each type of document requirements:
Document type | Definition |

Step 5 – Save or submit your information
Before you submit the form, check your information carefully to make sure all the details are accurate. To save your information and return to the form later, select Save as a draft. When you’re ready to send your information to Walmart, select Submit.
Step 6 – Verify your identity (conditionally required)
Based on Walmart’s review of your application, you may be required to verify that you’re authorized to represent the business. In this scenario, Walmart may request that you submit additional details about yourself or the business. This may include providing additional supporting documentation, and/or verifying the identity of the primary account holder or legal business representative using photo ID and facial recognition software.
If you are requested to verify your identity, you must complete this step within seven days of receiving the notification or your account will be closed.
Photo ID verification takes place through a secure a third-party service, and you’ll need to use your device’s camera to scan your ID and face. Make sure your document is valid and clear.
